Troubleshooting

Last updated: 2026-09-17

Most connection problems come down to one of two things: a version mismatch between your phone and your Mac, or a host that has lost its session. Work through the checks below in order.

Our commitment#

RepoGo spans several moving parts — the iPhone app, RepoGo Host on your Mac, cloud sandboxes, and the service that connects them. We do our best to ship changes that never break a working setup, and when a release does require updating both the app and the host, we say so plainly in the changelog. It is kept current with every release, so if something changed on you, that is the first place to look.

Best practices#

  • Keep RepoGo and RepoGo Host up to date. The iPhone app and the Mac host speak the same protocol, and new features land on both sides together. An old host paired with a new app (or the other way around) is the most common cause of missing agents, stalled chats, and features that appear to do nothing.
    • iPhone: update RepoGo from the App Store.
    • Mac: click the RepoGo Host icon in the menu bar. The version is shown at the bottom of the menu; click Update… to install the latest release, or download it again and replace the copy in Applications.
  • Leave RepoGo Host running in the menu bar with background activity approved. See Keep RepoGo Host Available in the Menu Bar.
  • Read the changelog after an update. It lists what changed on each surface and when a release requires updating both the app and the host.

The host isn't responding#

If your phone shows the Mac but chats never start, the terminal stays blank, or files never load, reset the host from the Mac menu bar:

  1. Click the RepoGo Host icon in the menu bar.
  2. Click Disconnect. The status changes from Connected to Disconnected.
  3. Click Sign out.
  4. Click Quit RepoGo Host.
  5. Open RepoGo Host again from Applications. It shows a QR code.
  6. On your iPhone, open Environments, tap +, choose Mac, and scan the QR code. Your Mac signs in and pairs again.

Once the menu bar icon says Connected, open a project on that Mac from your phone and start a chat to confirm it responds.

If it still doesn't respond, check that the Mac is awake and on the network, then confirm both apps are on the latest version before trying again.

Still stuck?#

  • Changelog — what shipped in each release.
  • Contact us — include your app version, host version, and what you were doing when it stopped responding.
