Getting started

Start a chat

Pick a project#

Projects are folders on your computer. In the project picker, each environment lists your pinned and recent projects and the git repositories it found.

  • Browse Folders to open any folder, or create a New Folder.
  • Clone to copy a repository from the GitHub account your computer is signed in to.

Long-press a project to rename it, pin it, or delete it. Newly pinned projects appear first in the pinned section, keeping the other pins in their existing order. Drag pinned projects to arrange them.

On your phone, pinned projects appear above Chats as shortcuts for filtering the list. They use one row when they fit, or two compact rows that scroll horizontally together.

Choose an agent and model#

RepoGo works with Claude Code and Codex. Tap the agent and model in the composer to switch. On iPhone, a compact floating panel lists your agents first; tap one to see its models, and tap a model to pick it and close the panel. The bottom-left Back button returns from models to agents.

The other options sit in the prompt bar:

  • Permission mode: tap the permission button, whose icon shows the current mode. Its popover lists:

    • Ask every time: you approve every edit and command.
    • Auto-accept edits: file edits go through; commands still ask. New chats start here.
    • Full access: nothing asks. Use it for work you're not watching.

Above them, the Plan chip turns plan mode on or off, and Fast does the same for models with a fast tier.

  • Thinking: the bars button sets how hard the model thinks, for models that offer levels.

Send#

The grid button beside the composer island opens the project panel. On iPad, where the panel sits beside the chat, the button becomes × while the panel is open; tap it to close the panel. On iPhone the panel fills the screen, so swipe right to close it.

On iPad, the chat drawer and project panel can stay open together when the window has room for all three panes. In a narrower window, opening the project panel temporarily closes the chat drawer; closing the panel restores it if it was open. In that narrower layout, opening the chat drawer while the panel is open closes the panel. The layout adapts as you resize the window or rotate the iPad.

Type your prompt and send it. While the agent works you see its steps, the files it changes, and its reply as it streams in.

  • Attach photos, screenshots, files or a camera shot from the attach card. Each attachment can be up to 4 MB.
  • Send while it works to queue the next message. Queued messages show a Queued badge; edit them, delete them, or tap Send Now. Stopping the agent keeps your queued messages; they wait for Send Now. Codex can take a message into the turn that's already running.
  • Long-press Send for Send in New Chat, which starts a separate chat in the background.

RepoGo Free includes 100 messages a day, counted once your computer accepts each one, and the count resets at midnight. A queued message counts when you send it, and a turn that's already running always finishes. RepoGo Pro has no limit.

Select text across adjacent headings, paragraphs and lists in an agent's reply. Code blocks and tables stay separate.

With RepoGo tools enabled, the host gives the agent formatting instructions for your client. The full app supports diagrams, math and interactive cards. Both the app and App Clip ask agents to finish completed work with a short recap of changes, checks and remaining work. The recap appears in the chat list and the voice agent reads it, but the chat itself leaves it out, since the answer above already says it. The App Clip receives basic Markdown instructions; Mermaid diagrams and cards in a shared transcript appear as code there.

Links in replies can open project files at a specific line or a folder in the project’s Files tab. Images can display directly from project files. A code block shows the text the agent supplied; use the accompanying file link to open the source. Localhost links open a running server on your environment in RepoGo’s browser, so you can try your app from your phone.

A card switch can save a setting immediately when its page defines an action. It stays disabled while saving or awaiting confirmation. A failed save or cancelled confirmation restores the previous value; failures show an error. A switch without an action only changes the card’s local state.

Your Plugins tab#

In the full iOS app, an environment-wide ~/.repogo/plugins/plugin.ui file supplies a Plugins tab across projects. A project’s .repogo/plugin.ui replaces that page for that project; the two pages are not merged. Without either file, the tab is hidden. Ask your agent to add links to your plugin pages, preserving any entries already there.

Approvals and questions#

When the agent needs permission, the prompt bar shows Approval needed with the choices the agent offers. When it asks a question, answer from the options or write a Custom answer.

Your existing sessions#

Claude Code and Codex sessions you started on the computer, in a terminal or your editor, show up in RepoGo on their own. While the host reads them, the chat list shows Syncing chats.

Hand off to your desk#

From the chat's menu, Hand Off copies the command to resume the chat on your computer (claude --resume … or codex resume …), or opens a terminal on the environment that resumes it there.

Find and organize chats#

  • Search Chats looks through titles, prompts and replies on every environment.
  • On your phone, the menu on the right of Chats picks which chats the list shows: Pinned, Needs You (waiting for your reply or approval), Working, All (resolved chats included) or Resolved.
  • The Filters sheet controls layout, sorting, and filters by agent, environment and project. Choose View → Mini for compact single-line chat rows with the project icon, a small agent badge, title and live state or age. Mini is available in both the app and App Clip. Use the chat toolbar’s Select Chats button to delete several chats at once.
  • Long-press a chat to Rename, Pin, Resolve, mark it read or unread, or Delete it.
  • On iOS, swipe a chat right for Pin/Unpin and Mark Read/Mark Unread, or left for Delete and Resolve/Unresolve. Deleting asks for confirmation. Swipe actions are hidden while selecting multiple chats.

On desktop, right-click a chat and choose Pin. Pinned chats appear above the regular list under Pinned Chats, with a count. Click the heading to collapse or expand it; the desktop app remembers your choice. The section appears when the list contains pinned chats.

Desktop Settings pages use a short crossfade when navigating. The animation respects your system's Reduce Motion preference.

The desktop's left rail has Chats and Environments, with Settings at the bottom. Each opens its own sidebar: chats and search, environments and projects, or the Settings menu. In Settings, Profile and RepoGo Pro are under Account, development tools under Development, and app preferences and privacy under App. Choose a page in the sidebar to open it in the main area.

The bottom-right chevron in the phone’s Chats list returns to your current chat, keeping its selected project and draft.

Choose a theme#

Open Settings → Theme to change the app’s colors. Rosé Pine uses Dawn’s warm cream palette in light mode and Moon’s deep plum palette in dark mode, with matching terminal colors. You can also use it as the base for a custom theme.
