Getting started

Install the host

The host is what lets your iPhone reach your computer. Install it on the machine where your projects and coding agents live.

Requirements#

  • An iPhone or iPad on iOS 26 or later, with RepoGo installed, or nothing at all: scanning the pairing code opens an App Clip.
  • macOS or Linux (Ubuntu 22.04 or newer), on Apple silicon/arm64 or x64.
  • Node.js 22 or later, only to run the npx command.
  • Claude Code or Codex on the same computer. RepoGo runs the agents you already use, signed in as you. If one isn't installed or signed in yet, you can do that from your phone after pairing (see Manage environments).

Install#

In a terminal, run:

bash
npx @repogo/host

This installs the host as a background service, starts it, and shows a pairing code. Keep the terminal open and pair your iPhone.

The host keeps running after you close the terminal, and starts again when you log in (macOS) or when the machine boots (Linux).

What it changes on your computer#

  • ~/.repogo/ holds the host, your pairings, a cache of your chat list, and logs.
  • A background service: a launchd agent on macOS, a systemd user service on Linux.
  • Hooks in ~/.claude/settings.json and ~/.codex/hooks.json, so the host knows when you run an agent outside RepoGo and can show those sessions on your phone. Your own hooks are left untouched. Codex asks you to trust them once: run codex, then /hooks.

The host only listens on 127.0.0.1. It reaches the relay by dialing out, so you don't need to open ports or change your router.

Upgrading from the previous RepoGo#

Hosts from the previous version of RepoGo, including the RepoGo Host Mac app, don't work with this one. Install the new host with npx @repogo/host and pair again.
